mountain hellebore

July 18th, 2010

In crisp , mountain air, is where you will find the helleborus growing.

A weekend adventure was where we stumbled upon this gold mine of hellebore. Whist strolling along on our personal tour of the nursery, we were escorted through a portfolio of  the “winter rose” varieties.. some with deep eggplant hues, passionfruit flower look alikes, freckled  and spotted ones, others with Anemone centers and amazing double hybrids…The genus Hellebore falls under the Ranunculaceae family, and there are about 17 different species of Helleborus.

Take a look…we just couldn’t believe our luck!
